Rates of persistent chronic pain among adults

Estimates suggest that 20% of adults suffer from pain globally and 10% are newly diagnosed with chronic pain each year.

Rates of persistent chronic pain in adults and younger people. Non-Hispanic white adults (23.6%) were more likely to have chronic pain than non-Hispanic Black adults (19.3%), Hispanic adults (13.0%), and non-Hispanic Asian adults (6.8%). (National Center for Health Statistics https://www.cdc.gov/)

A NIH study found that 21% of US adults have chronic pain, and 8% have high-impact chronic pain. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention https://www.cdc.gov
